kega - Select Screen

hi everybody

I wonder if its possible to have an option to select in wich screen kega will be displayed on fullscreen mode.

Mame already has this feature, it is very useful when you connetc a secondary monitor or TV to your computer.

another apps like classic media player autoselects the screen, if you alt+enter in the second monitor/TV, it will fullscreen in that one. and it allos you to continue using the main display, the mouse works and you can navigate and even typing in another apps.

wonder if its possible

This is not supported in the current build for technical reasons: Much as I haven't wanted to, I have stuck to old interfaces for a very long time, because a lot of people are still using very old hardware to run Kega. However I do have a build that *does* support this stuff which I am considering migrating to soon, especially since newer drivers are starting to drop support for older stuff.

However this is not without problems:

This would appear to not be possible. Media Player/other players are not "true fullscreen", they are simply drawing in a big black fullscreen sized window. In real fullscreen mode, as soon as you try to do anything on the other display the fullscreen app will get minimised.

Also, when running on any monitor other than the default, the framerate sometimes gets cut in half for a few seconds at random intervals. This appears to be related to vsync, and the fact that both monitors are never exactly in sync - the default monitor takes priority.

So as it turns out, this is not quite as useful as you would hope.

I have a laptop connected to a small TV and a VGA monitor. I all ways use the svideo output to watch movies and the other two to navigate or other stuff. I am pretty sure media player doesnt minimize, but other apps like mame fullscreen on the TV but minimize when touch mouse or keyboard ;(
maye there exist a way...

yeah, I noticed slowdowns in framerate so those problems you mention seems to affect in some way

anyway thank you for patience and great emu

While we are in the topic of multiple monitors, please add an option to change the background color of the whole screen, either to a picture, a fixed color, or to use the overscan color. (to help avoiding pasma burn-in when using fixed aspect modes)

An update about this topic

I setup my laptop with Ubuntu and tvout
with the proper changes to xconf, I was able to extend the desktop to the TV.

tried fusion and I get full screen on TV, no frame drop, and I am able to play using a gamepad, and do other tasks in the main screen.

this is just what I was looking for :)

if we could run two fusion, i think it is possible to assign one to the main screen, other for the TV (or external monitor), and play with two gamepads :)
