Kega, a new Sega CD emulator by Steve Snake, has been released! Get it here! Furthermore, the info on the emulators page has been updated accomodating the release of AGES 0.27, Gens 1.52 and Xega 0.10.

Nov 11

The info on the emulators page has been updated accomodating the release of AGES 0.26 and Gens 1.30. I've also updated the  compatibility list, testing 159 games with Gens 1.30. Congratulations go out to Stef - Gens is now the fastest, most accurate and most compatible Sega CD emulator!

Oct 27

The info on the emulators page has been updated accomodating the release of Gens 1.20. At the same time, I've updated the compatibility list, testing 159 games with Gens 1.20, Xega 0.09 and AGES 0.26 - the new version of AGES will be released soon. In case you haven't seen it yet, you can find the new link to the AGES homepage on the emulators page as well. The next release will be a significant one, as Quinntesson has added sound support to AGES.
A new American Sega CD model 2 BIOS is available on the
Development page, thanks to Arakon for dumping it.

Oct 15

I've added three new BIOS files to the Development page, and at the same time I introduced a new BIOS naming scheme which will come in handy for future emulator releases. I've also rewritten some of the text on the emulators page. Michel Gerritse has released version 0.09 of Xega, you can pick it up at the official Xega homepage.
There is more to come in the next two weeks, so stay tuned and check by on the Inn from time to time. :-)

Oct 01

Yet another Sega CD emulator has been released: With version 0.08, Michel Gerritse added Sega CD support to his Xega emulators - just like Gens, including full sound support! Please pick it up on the official Xega homepage, and don't forget to download the necessary BIOS files on my Development page.
Compared to the other two Sega CD emulators, Xega fares quite well. It is faster than WinAGES, but slower than Gens, and the overall compatibility is also a lot slower. Unlike Gens, it has ISO support though... Which makes games which do not need CD audio tracks a LOT faster. Direct CD support in Xega is still very buggy unfortunately, as is the scaling/rotating support. Furthermore, it does not have savegame support. Anyway, Michel did a great job with the emulator, and we're all looking forward to new releases!
Feel free to stop by at the
Tavern to discuss th
is emulator release.

A new version of Gens has just been released, with support for playing Sega CD games - including full sound support! Please pick it up on the official Gens homepage, and don't forget to download the necessary BIOS files on my Development page.
Compared to WinAGES, Gens is still rather buggy with Sega CD emulation (though it's definitely the best Windows Genesis emulator out there), which means the compatibility rate is still rather low, and there are some issues with the 3D chip. Also, Gens is a lot faster than WinAGES, which makes it worth a try for those of you who don't have a powerful engouh computer to run WinAGES.
I'm trying to get a compatibility list compiled in the next few weeks, when my time allows me that, but feel free to send me emails or post messages in the Tavern with any kind of comparison/compatibility info if you like.
In any case, Stéphane Dallongeville did a great job with the initial release, and I'm pretty sure we'll see improved compatibility and authenticity in the future. Feel free to stop by at the
Tavern to discuss the emulator release.

Finally, the latest version of WinAGES, 0.25a, is also available for download here at the Inn. I'm very sorry for the delay, Jeff. I've also updated the tutorial accordingly, which hopefully with decrease related questions in the Tavern significantly. Please, everyone: Read the WinAGES tutorial on this site and the WinAGES manual! All necessary information is IN THERE!
There are things on the horizon in terms of Sega CD emulation... Stay tuned for some nice events soon!
