is our translation attempt on Rent a Hero. It is well placed on the voting
polls, is simple enough for a first incursion into translation, and seems
to be fun to play (although the difficulty level could be brought up a
bit).
It also provides an opportunity to have a look at the internals of the Sega RPG engine when it was "young" - after taking some steroids, the engine used in this game powered Phantasy Star 4 and other goodies. |

| Wing,
a living translation machine, provides the necessary japanese knowledge.
Flavio handles binary issues. We managed to figure out most of the data
needed for the project to be successful: charset, control codes, pointers
to text...
So far, the game appears to allow a full translation without further hassle. Hopefully, we'll be creating software tools to accelerate this process, as well as other Genesis ROM translations.. You have comments or questions about this translation? Then mail Flavio or Wing! |
