excellent strategy wargame, will appeal to all who've played warsong.
the storyline involves the adventure of Elwin a young prince (who
doesn't
know it at first) and his friend Hein the magician apprentice.. Riana
(Hein's friend) is kidnapped and the story starts from there...

imo the PC-FX / SFC remake of it is better (Der Langrisser)...
made in 1995 by NCS/Masaya.

Der Langrisser is the remake of lungrisser 2. The main differences are
remade gfx+music, ability to create your character (class), and
branching storyline (you can choose to align yourself 4 different
ways... lungrisser 2 limits you to only "light" army alignment.)
There are some who prefer the music in lungrisser 2 to Der Langrisser
for some reason though... Also, i think the "summon" option is only
availabie in Der Langrisser but i'm not sure about that..

Der Langrisser has the branching storylines which make for a total
of 70+ scenarios (much more than lungrisser2)... but many of the
scenarios are repeated, it's just that you are playing on the oppisite
side (light vs dark, dark vs light, etc.)

A few people (including myself) are working on translating the SFC
version of Der Langrisser... if you are interested here's a link

Vixen 357 looks to be interesting too, since it is the same idea
of the langrisser series but futuristic.. i personally haven't
played it yet though.

Also, Lungrisser 1 could also be considered because some storyline
of Warsong was changed from the original Lungrisser..
